The development of DifITS

Abstract

Students have been facing problems in learning differentiation. Reports and comments from the Malaysian Examination Board indicated that students faced problems in learning differentiation. Teacher-centered instructional approaches, large class size and lack of individual learning support for students were some of the identified contributing factors. This paper aims to present a prototype of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) for enhancing the learning of differentiation for Form Four Additional Mathematics. The ITS uses mastery learning theory and fuzzy logic to provide selfpaced learning and one-to-one tutoring in the learning process.
