The development of social science research on smart grids: a semi-structured literature review

Abstract: Background Smart technologies, such as smart grids, are emerging as indispensable aspects of an energy transformation and come with hopes of more sustainable resource use. A substantial amount of research has examined the technical, economic, and environmental implications of these technologies, but less attention has been paid to their social aspects. For the smart grid projects to be realised, studies that include the actors who are supposed to implement the visions are needed. … Show more

“…The Structured literature review method has been previously applied to analyze various aspects of energy systems, i.e., energy efficiency in buildings [22,23], renewable energy sources [24,25], smart grids [26]. Literature analysis on Stirling engine applications has been published, i.e., [13] reviewed cases of biomass-fueled Stirling engine applications and solar-based Stirling systems [27].…”

“…The adoption of the smartboard or interactive whiteboard (IWB) in English classes is an innovative technological resource that significantly impacts students’ achievements [ 42 ]. This technology enables various applications, such as whole-class instruction using online tools, the creation of digital flipcharts, the utilization of video clips to illustrate concepts, and the ability to revise materials rapidly and extensively.…”

“…In social science studies, these collective characterisations are seen through a) different modes of collaborative governance b) shared objectives and experiences c) dynamics of social interactions and habits, as well as d) diversity of consumer engagement and empowerment. Collaborative governance is seen to depend on procedures and organisational arrangements such as effective communication, coordination and participation [37]. Geelen et al [38] argue that collective collaboration can play a crucial role in effectively governing smart grid initiatives.…”
