The diagnostic value of miR-21 combined with CT in patients with liver cancer

Abstract: Purpose To explore the diagnostic value of miR-21 combined with computed tomography (CT) in patients with liver cancer. Methods A total of 112 patients in our hospital were confirmed liver cancer by examination, and were collected as cancer group. Another 100 patients with hepatic focal nodular hyperplasia in the same period were collected as control group. The diagnostic value of miR-21 and CT on liver cancer was observed. Results The level of miR-21 in cancer group was significantly higher than that in contr… Show more

“…It is a carcinogenic factor for breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancers [ 39 , 40 ]. The high expression of miR-21 in liver cancer is associated with shortened 5-year overall survival and 5-year disease-free survival of liver cancer patients, which suggests miE-21 is a potential prognostic marker of liver cancer [ 41 ]. This study confirmed that miR-135a binds directly and specifically to circRNAs, and the expression of miR-135a is negatively regulated by circRNAs.…”

“…In the present study we found tumor-specific modulation in the expression of miR-21-5p, miR-93-5p, miR-146b-5p, miR-155-5p, miR-182-5p and miR-133b in three different patient cohorts: UHSG, IRE and TCGA. Among them, miR-21-5p is a very well-known oncomiR, reported in oral ( 27 , 41 – 44 ) and in many other malignancies, including colorectal cancer ( 45 ), esophageal cancer ( 46 ), hepatocellular cancer ( 47 , 48 ), gastric cancer ( 49 ), lung cancer ( 50 ), breast cancer ( 51 ), cervical cancer ( 52 ) and bladder cancer ( 53 ). The restriction in the expression of miR-21 in vitro and in vivo leads to growth inhibition, reduced proliferation and activation of apoptosis ( 41 , 44 ).…”
