The dispersion of shear wave in multilayered magnetoelastic self-reinforced media

Abstract: a b s t r a c tIn this paper, we study the propagation of shear waves in a magnetoelastic self-reinforced medium using finite difference technique. Dispersion equation has been deduced for the case when (n À 1) layers lie over a half space. It is observed that the obtained dispersion equation is in assertion with the classical Love wave equation for both the cases when a single and double layer lies over a half space. The stability condition for the used finite difference scheme and the expression for the phas… Show more

“…When l = 2, we have, where and which exhibits the dispersion equation of SH-wave. Dispersion equation as obtained from Equation(33)agrees with the dispersion equation as described byChattopadhyay et al (2010). When l = 3, we get Equation (34) represents the dispersion equation for two layers lying over a half space.…”

“…Chattopadhyay and Choudhury (1995) examined the propagation of magnetoelastic shear waves in an infinite self-reinforced plate. Chattopadhyay et al (2010) considered the dispersion of shear wave in multilayered magnetoelastic selfreinforced media. Chattopadhyay and Singh (2012) explored the propagation of shear waves in an internal irregular magnetoelastic self-reinforced stratum which is sandwiched between two semi-infinite magnetoelastic self-reinforced elastic media.…”

“…The idea of introducing a continuous reinforcement at every point of an elastic solid was given by Belfield et al [4]. Recently, some work related to Love wave propagation in fibrereinforced material with different geometries was done by Chattopadhyay et al [5,6]. The low weight and high strength of fibre-reinforced materials make its role crucial in the field of construction works.…”
