Abstract:In forsterite the functional form of water is regard to be hydrogen. The distribution of this hydrogen across different sites in forsterite is important because it determines what rheological properties of forsterite are affected by water and how they are affected. In this study we use lattice dynamic Density Functional Theory (DFT) to build a thermodynamic model of hydrogen in forsterite that contains both Al and Ti sites. We find that Al does not cause significant variation in the distribution of water in fo… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
