“…In Case studies , Safonov ( 2022 ) in the article “The earthquake of February 13, 2020, M = 7.0 and seismotectonic conditions at intermediate depths of the Southern Kuril Islands” performed the inversion of earthquake focal mechanisms of intermediate depth earthquakes for the southern part of the Kuril Islands. He found, in the upper layer, compression prevails along the slab subparallel to the Pacific Plate motion in the mantle, while the extension along the slab prevails in the lower layer and is mainly rotated by 20° clockwise from the direction of its dip.…”
