The term “power flow” recognizes that a different technique is now used to determine the state of the power system. A more correct description is that a power flow solution is numerically found. The main output of such a solution is the power flow on all transmission and/or distribution devices. The power flow on each device is checked against the device flow capability to determine whether the device will stay within operationally accepted limits.
