The Effect of Bio-fertilizer on Soil Chemical Properties of Sugarcane in Purwadadi Subang

Abstract: Biofertilizer is a biological product that can be used to improve the soil fertility. It is useful in enriching soil with micro-organisms that produces organic nutrients and may also reduce the plant diseases. This experiment investigates the usefulness of biofertilizer which can increase the soil properties. This study was conducted at sugarcane plantation, Purwadadi Subang Bandung. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were (50; 25… Show more

“…By contrast, soil pH was not affected by the addition of biofertilizer. The result was in agreement with the report of [23], who showed that using biofertilizers were not changed the pH soil. The use of BOF at the doses of 4 and 6 t ha -1 yr -1 increased the average value of SOM by 0.5% after a year of the experiment.…”

“…Moreover, there are still organic materials in the growing media, hence, a symbiotic relationship between microorganisms and colonies produced by plants on the outside part of the root system may have increased the water and nutrient uptake. This action might take place as a result of the humic acid's functional groups' capacity to interact and react negatively with positively charged ions (Mulyani et al 2017). Organic materials enhance physicochemical and biological processes and provide carbon (C) as source of energy for microbial activity, which in turn increases plant growth, development, and output, according to Umesha et al (2011).…”

“…Consequently, the plant's uptake of this element increased, and with its transfer to the grain, the percentage of grain nitrogen increased [45]. Mulyani et al [46] reported that the combination of chemical fertilizers increased the uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in sugarcane. Nitrogen increased dry matter production, longevity, stem size and durability, plant size, leaf area index, and leaf area durability.…”
