Abstract:The exploration of underlying biological risk factors for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury has generated a substantial body of literature describing the role of bony morphology of the knee. Morphological risk factors, such as poor tibiofemoral joint congruity, a narrow femoral intercondylar notch, and an increased posterior tibial slope (PTS), have been implicated in contributing to knee instability and biomechanical abnormalities. Additionally, investigations into sex-specific differences in bony morph… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
