“…Furthermore, the above metal oxides are unstable and could not perform in acidic media. Consequently, metal oxides that are stable in acidic media were found out, such as TiO 2 [28,29], W 18 O 49 [30], SnO 2 [31,32], CeO 2 [33], MoO x [34,35] and etc, which had been studied in catalyzing ORR and alcohol oxidation reaction (AOR) as well. As for molybdenum oxides, various compounds with different molybdenum and oxygen atom ratios have been studied in ORR and AOR [34e36], gas sensor [37], heptane isomerization [38] and so on.…”

“…The diffraction peaks of Pt (111) (200), (220) and (311) diffraction planes, respectively [44].These are typical of single-phase oxides with fluorite structures. so, both Pt and CeO 2 phases exist simultaneously in Pt-CeO 2 /C electrocatalyst, it was also noticed that; after introducing CeO 2 to Pt/C in Pt-CeO 2 /C electrocatalyst, 2θ values are shifted in the positive direction when compared to those of Pt in Pt/C as shown in Table 1 Pt(111) and Pt(220) planes are shifted to higher 2θ values when compared to those of Pt/C as shown in Table 1.…”

“…Figure 3 presents the mass current densities of the ORR in the mixed diffusion-kinetic controlled region for each electrocatalyst analyzed in the form of Koutecky-Levich (K-L) plots for different electrode rotation rates. The slope of the K-L plots is directly related to the number of electrons involved in the reaction, where a higher slope correlates to a lower number of electrons (Calegaro, Lima et al, 2006;Lim, Lee et al, 2008). For Pt 3 Sn/C PPM, the slope was close to the Pt/C ETEK electrode, a reference catalyst for the ORR, where the reaction proceeds through the transfer of 4 electrons.…”
