Abstract:Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars are major contributors of cosmic dust to the universe. Typically, dust around AGB stars is investigated via radiative transfer (RT) modeling, or via simple deconstruction of observed spectra. However, methodologies applied vary. Using archival spectroscopic, photometric, and temporal data for the archetypal dusty star, Mira, we identify its circumstellar silicate dust grains. This is achieved by matching the positions and widths of observed spectral features with laboratory … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
