“…Two methods were used by the researchers to quantify the company ENVD namely: disclosure occurrence and disclosure abundance. Identifying the presence or the absence of information is the focus of the disclosure occurrence method, while the disclosure abundance method is based on the computation of the number of words, the number of sentences, or the number of pages per report (Joseph and Taplin, 2011; Ananzeh et al. , 2022a).…”

“…(1) The company's policy or concern toward the environment (2) Contribution to environmental protection and pollution control programs Two methods were used by the researchers to quantify the company ENVD namely: disclosure occurrence and disclosure abundance. Identifying the presence or the absence of information is the focus of the disclosure occurrence method, while the disclosure abundance method is based on the computation of the number of words, the number of sentences, or the number of pages per report (Joseph and Taplin, 2011;Ananzeh et al, 2022a). While the latter has been criticized as an imprecise tool to quantify the disclosure quantity as it can produce misleading results where some tables, graphs, and images may likely be neglected, the former is believed to promote a more constructive discussion on the main differences in the richness and diversity of environmental disclosure (Joseph and Taplin, 2011).…”

“…The four independent variables indicated by BG were board size, board diversity, board independence and CEO duality. Board size is determined by natural log of total number of directors on BOD (Albitar et al , 2020; Ananzeh et al , 2022; Albitar et al , 2022; Abdoush et al , 2022). Board independence measured by number of independent directors as a percentage of total board members (Elmarzouky et al , 2021; Hussainey et al , 2022; Shohaieb et al , 2022).…”

“…Second, this paper adopts two theoretical perspectives to build the research hypotheses based on logical fundamentals. These theoretical perspectives include the agency theory and stakeholder theory (Freeman, 1984; Jones, 1995; Clarkson, 2016; Ananzeh et al , 2022a). Third, the paper uses different statistical techniques to examine the economic performance of CSRD and to ensure the validity of our results.…”
