The effect of dietary silver nanoparticles on performance, immune organs, and lipid serum of broiler chickens during starter period

Abstract: This research was carried out to investigate the effect of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) on growth performance, immune organs, and serum lipids of broilers from 1 to 21 days of age. A total of 240 one-day-male broilers (Ross 308) distributed in four groups of 60 birds, including 4 replicates and 15 birds in each pen. Birds were fed on experimental diets including: T1 (control) without SNPs, T2, T3 and T4 supplementation basal diet with 4, 8 or 12 mg SNPs per kg of diet, respectively. At 21 d about 5 ml bloods (4… Show more

“…Selenomethionine (Se-Met) included in the methionine site in various proteins provides regulation of the endocrine system, but Se-Met is not synthesized in the body (Chauhan et al, 2019). That is why much attention is now paid to bioavailable forms of Se, in particular nano-selenium and biogenic nano-selenium, which can be obtained using probiotic microorganisms (Ahmadi et al, 2013).…”

“…Recently, AgNPs have also played a role in animal and specifically poultry nutrition as anti-inflammatory and immunostimulatory agents [ 15 ], improving the growth performance of broiler chickens [ 16 ]. A few studies on the use of AgNPs in rearing chickens have been performed [ 17 19 ]; however, the obtained findings are conflicting and do not explicitly indicate whether AgNPs might be safely supplied to poultry. The use of nanoparticles of various sizes, characteristics, and embedding media in these experiments may explain the discrepant findings.…”
