“…During an experiment tests were carried out of black dye in feed water at 20ppm, 30pp m, 50 ppm and 70pp m concentration.Black Dye has imp roved the distilled water production by almost 65%, whereas Ink in water solution improves it over 35%. Results also shown that the improvement was observed with increasing concentration of dye from 20 ppm to 50 ppm and the rate of evaporation remain same during increasing concentration from 50 pp m to 70 pp m. 2.17 Black granite gravels, Pebbles, Blue metal stones and Paraffin wax T.V Arjunan et al [39] Were used various energy storage materials like black granite gravels, pebbles, blue metal stones and paraffin wax during an experiment to study the effect of energy storage materials on the perfor mance of simple solar still. The energy storage materials in the still store the heat during noon hours and release that stored heat to the basin water in the evening when the radiation is low and night hours.…”

“…They also proved that the off‐sunshine hours yield improved by adding storage materials in the solar still. Similarly, Arjunan et al 20 also used low‐cost storage materials, such as pebbles, blue metal blocks, black granite gravel, and paraffin wax. Researchers also found the yield enhanced during the daytime without storage and decreased during the remaining hours.…”

“…Shanmugan 19 had carried out workdone on the storage materials on the yield of solar still. Arjun et al 20 had carried out experimental analysis of various storage materials on yield of solar still. Shanmugan et al 21 carried out the work on the low cost storage materials and improved the yield.…”

“…Each of these technologies has its own pros and cons. The solar stills have economic advantage over other distillation processes, with reduced operating and maintenance costs . Ongoing research tries to enhance the performance of the solar stills with various techniques such as using energy storage materials , coupling the solar still with solar still‐flat plate collector system .…”
