Abstract:5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a biomass-based chemical platform that can undergo many feasible reactions. One of the most important reactions is the oxidation to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), which is the monomer for bioplastic production.
