Abstract: Background type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a known risk factor of coronary artery disease (CAD). Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in T2DM patients. Antecedent to and associated with epicardial coronary artery stenosis, T2DM patients develop abnormal microvascular function in systemic circulatory beds.
