Fatores culturais, como os tabus alimentares, influenciam negativamente a promoção do aleitamento materno resultando no desmame precoce. O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar as diferenças nas práticas alimentares de um determinado grupo de mães em relação ao aleitamento. Estudo transversal constituído por mães de crianças menores de dois anos de idade inscritas no Programa de Puericultura de duas Unidades Básicas de Saúde do município de Guarapuava-PR. Sendo uma localizada na região periférica (US 1) e a outra na área central (US 2), para verificar as diferenças nas práticas alimentares dessa população. Participaram do estudo 96 mães com média de idade 25,11 anos, das quais 86,5% afirmaram acreditar que algum alimento pudesse prejudicar na amamentação. Os principais alimentos a serem evitados, segundo as mães, foram: alimentos ácidos, bebidas alcoólicas, chocolate e refrigerantes. As mães das unidades 1 e 2 mencionam ter feito consumo de alimentos derivados do milho, e apenas na US 2 foi mencionado o consumo de cerveja preta como alimento lacto gênico. Não foram encontradas diferenças entre as unidades de saúde 1 e 2. Em relação às restrições alimentares não foram encontrados dados relevantes ligados aos tabus das entrevistadas. Destaca-se a importância da orientação para a promoção do aleitamento materno para incentivar e sanar as dúvidas das mães, evitando assim o desmame precoce e a continuidade do aleitamento até os dois anos de idade ou mais da criança. Palavras-chave: Aleitamento materno. Hábitos alimentares. Tabu alimentar.Cultural factors, such as food taboos, negatively influence the promotion of breastfeeding, resulting in early weaning. The aim of this study was to investigate differences in eating habits of a group of mothers in relation to breastfeeding. Cross-sectional study consisting of mothers of children under two years old enrolled in the Child Care Program of two Basic Health Units of Guarapuava-PR. One located in the peripheral region (US 1) and the other in the central area (US 2) to detect differences in eating habits of this population. The study included 96 mothers with mean age 25,11 years, of which 86.5% said they believed that some food would undermine breastfeeding. The main foods to be avoided, according to the mothers, were acidic foods, alcohol, chocolate and soft drinks. Mothers of units 1 and 2 have made mention consumption of foods derived from corn, and only two mentioned in the U.S. 2 beer consumption as food lactogenic black. No differences were found between the health U.S. 1 and U.S. 2. In relation to dietary restrictions were not found relevant data related to the taboos of the interviewees. Highlights the importance of orientation to promote breastfeeding and encourage mothers to solve any doubts, avoiding early weaning and continued breastfeeding until two years of age or older child.

ABSTRACT:Postpartum period is an important step because the mother's body needs to heal and recover, after pregnancy period and childbirth. So taking good care and a balanced diet in the postpartum period, plays an important role in the women's health. Thus, training of nutrition is so necessary at this period. The aim of this study was an evaluation the effect of the pregnancy period preparation classes on the nutritional behavior of the postpartum period. This research is a semi-experimental study. 230 number of the nulliparas admitted to the health centers selected by stratified-cluster sampling method and were placed in the intervention and control groups. Classes for the intervention group were held once every one week in the eight sessions and the duration of each session, was one hour. Collection of data was conducted through questionnaires and in order to its analysis, SPSS software was used. The results for this experiment showed that the groups of intervention and control, were similar in terms of the demographic characteristics but there was a significant difference in nutritional behavior of these groups and the amount of food groups and duration of iron tablet's consumption for the intervention group, were more than the control group (P= 0.000). Therefore, the final results from this investigation showed that, classes of the pregnancy period preparation had positive effects on the nutritional behavior and consumption amounts for the food groups in the postpartum period which indicates the importance of pregnancy period classes and role of midwives in the field of the pregnancy period training. INTRODUCTION:The postpartum period is a very special phase in the life of a woman. Her body needs to heal and recover from the pregnancy and childbirth. A good postpartum care and wellbalanced diet during the postpartum period, is very important for the health of a woman 1 . Health education influences one's nutrition and health care knowledge, behavior and attitude toward postpartum practices.
