“…Unlike in the US treatment, watermelon seeds did not respond to water soaking even at the longest duration (60 min). This is probably because this 60-min period was not long enough to overcome the mechanical resistance imposed by the hard thick seed coats of these seeds (Zheng et al, 2007). Extending the duration of water treatment should be tried to see if germination rate could be further enhanced.…”
