The effect of memory and stiffness on energy ratios at the interface of distinct media

Abstract: PurposeThis paper aims to study the energy ratios of plane waves on an imperfect interface of elastic half-space (EHS) and orthotropic piezothermoelastic half-space (OPHS).Design/methodology/approachThe dual-phase lag (DPL) theory with memory-dependent derivatives is employed to study the variation of energy ratios at the imperfect interface.FindingsA plane longitudinal wave (P) or transversal wave (SV) propagates through EHS and strikes at the interface. As a result, two waves are reflected, and four waves ar… Show more

“…These investigations provide valuable insights into how these composite materials respond to varying conditions, thereby advancing comprehension of their mechanical characteristics and the propagation of waves within them. Gupta and his coworker [30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37] investigated various wave propagation problems in elastic, thermoelastic and piezoelectric materials.…”

“…Zenkour and Alghanmi (2021) analyzed the stress and deformation of sandwich plates with a functionally graded core and piezoelectric material faces with electro-mechanical-hygro-thermo sinusoidal loadings. The energy ratio at various types of interfaces, including fluid, elastic, semiconductor and piezo-thermo-elastic, has been studied by Yadav (2021aYadav ( , 2021bYadav ( , 2021c, Gupta and his team (Gupta et al, 2023b;Barak et al, 2023a;Gupta et al, 2023a;Barak et al, 2023b;Barak and Gupta, 2023;Gupta and Barak, 2023) and analyzed the effects of moisture, magnetic fields, phase lags, memory-dependent and fractional derivatives.…”

“…thermoelastic/orthotropic piezothermoelastic). Barak et al (2023) analysed the partitioning of incident energy at the interface of elastic/orthotropic piezothermoelastic solids. Ba et al (2011) developed the double-porosity (DP) theory by combining Biot's poroelasticity theory with Rayleigh's theory, which considers the embedded relationship between two types of pores.…”
