The Effect of Methylammonium Iodide on the Supersaturation and Interfacial Energy of the Crystallization of Methylammonium Lead Triiodide Single Crystals

Abstract: It is very important to study the crystallization of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites because their thin films are usually prepared from solution. The investigation on the growth of perovskite films is however limited by their polycrystallinity.Inthis work, methylammonium lead triiodide single crystals grown from solutions with different methylammonium iodide (MAI):lead iodide (PbI 2 )r atios were investigated. We observed aV -shaped dependence of the crystallization onset temperature on the MAI:PbI 2 rati… Show more

“…The changes in the crystal shape do not indicate a change in the crystal symmetry or the formation of a polycrystalline component. Similar phenomena have been observed in MAPbI 3 single crystals 29 . Figure 1D, E presents the XRD patterns and enlarged views of the patterns in the 2θ range from~28 to 29°, respectively, for MAPbI 3−x Cl x (x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.3) single crystal samples at room temperature.…”

“…15 At the same time, according to the results of dynamic light scattering, there is clear evidence of the existence of 1−2 nm colloid particles in perovskite solutions in GBL. 16 Interestingly, when we cooled backward a MAPbI 3 solution saturated at 60 °C down to room temperature, transparent precipitated crystals (see Figure S4) are found to be the cluster adduct 2. The size of the cluster anion [Pb 18 I 44 ] 8− is exactly 1− 2 nm (the distance between the opposite vertices of [Pb 18 I 44 ] 8− is 1.9 nm; the distance between the parallel planes is 1.1 nm, see Figure 2f).…”

“…To clarify the roles of the polymers and the PC synthetic mechanisms, the effect of polymers on the precursor solutions and crystallization process are systematically studied. The FAPbI 3 /GBL precursor solutions with different concentration of PPG-3000 are measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS) 31 , 32 , zeta potential, Raman, and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. As shown in Fig.…”
