The Effect of Personality Traits of Disaster Manager Candidates on Their Teamwork Tendecy

Abstract

The aim of the research is to examine the proactive personality traits of disaster manager candidates and their tendecy to teamwork. In this context, the data collected by the face-to-face survey method with the participation of 144 students in a school with 225 students enrolled in the Emergency and Disaster Management department were analyzed and interpreted in the SPSS 22.0 statistical package program. Explanatory factor analysis, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall-Wallis H tests and regression analysis were evaluated. According to the results of the research, it was observed that the tendency to show proactive behavior differed according to gender, class and age. It was observed that the tendency to teamwork differed according to gender, age and place of upbringing. It is seen that proactive behavior has a positive and significant effect on being able to work with a team and cooperation. It is seen that a one-unit increase in proactive behavior has an effect of 0.747 on being able to work with a team. It is seen that proactive behavior has a positive and significant effect on cooperation. It is seen that a one-unit increase in proactive behavior has an effect of 0.572 on cooperation. In this context, it has been concluded that individuals who exhibit proactive behavior characteristics are more inclined to teamwork and cooperation.
