The effect of the amount of process control agent on the properties of Cu25W composite powder

Abstract: This study is based upon the optimization of production parameters of Cu25W electrical contact material. Commercial elemental copper (Cu) and tungsten (W) powders were synthesized to produce Cu25W composite powder by mechanical alloying technique at various amounts of stearic acid via using a planetary type ball mill. The effect of amount of stearic acid on production of Cu25W composite powder was evaluated. In order to achieve true alloying among powder particles, it is necessary to establish a balance betwee… Show more

“…A ball mill is additionally utilized to grind and combine materials, commonly with spherical or cylindricalshaped grinding media such as balls or rods [86]. Numerous researchers have effectively Mechanical alloying as a method of solid-state particle processing that involves mechanical welding, breaking, and rewelding particle powders repeatedly in a high-energy ball mill [53,62,63]. It is among the most effective nanostructures top-down preparation procedures for nanocrystalline [64], nanoparticles [65], and nanocomposite materials [66].…”

“…The current study investigates the type of ratio for ball mill jars listed in Table 3 and [ 63 , 80 , 168 , 181 , 183 ]. Different ball-to-jar ratios can affect the milling kinetics, the size, and distribution of the milled particles, and ultimately the mechanical properties of the resulting materials [ 103 , 105 , 114 , 141 , 156 , 163 , 184 , 185 , 186 ].…”

“…One of the most important performance tests of electrical contact materials is the arc-erosion test. Many studies have been conducted using arc-erosion testing equipment on the manufacture and evaluation of various contact materials, including some composites, to investigate electrical performance [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. The main purpose of these studies is to predict the lifespan of electrical contacts, which can assist in eliminating or minimizing contact failures.…”
