the number of patients with dementia has continuously increased due to a very rapid rate of population aging. 2 According to the National Institute of Dementia, 750,488 persons were estimated to have dementia (about 10.16% of people aged 65 and over) in South Korea in 2019. 3 Social cost per year per patient with dementia was estimated at 20,420,000 Korean Won (KW; 1 USD=1,206 KW as of 2020). 3 Total public management cost for patients with dementia was estimated at 15,300 billion KW (i.e., 12,700 million USD). 3 It has been predicted that cost for patients with dementia would increase to 3 million by 2050 in South Korea. 3 Accordingly, social cost will increase rapidly.
