“…The starting precursors were niobium (V) ethoxide, (Nb(OC 2 H 5 ) 5 99.999% Alfa Aesar) and niobium clorure (NbCl 5 99% Sigma-Aldrich). The niobium pentoxide nanostructure materials obtained were calcined at 500 • C, 650 • C and 750 • C for 2 h [19,20].…”

“…Structurally isolated NbO 6 octahedra are not efficient luminescent centers [18], whereas isolated distorted niobate groups, such as in LaNbO 4 , where the Nb(V) has a 4 + 2 coordination, provide very efficient centers. The closer the Nb-O-Nb angles are to 180 the more pronounced the effects of the NbO 6 condensation become [16,17,[19][20][21].…”

“…As the available water treatment technologies involving biological, physical and chemical methods such as membrane filtration, coagulation, sedimentation, reverse osmosis, reduction, oxidation, ion‐ exchange, UV treatment, aerobic and anaerobic processing have limitations on large scale implementation involving high operating costs and generating toxic secondary pollutants into the ecosystem, advanced oxidation techniques have been proposed . The heterogeneous semiconductor metal oxides such as TiO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 , ZnO, ZrO 2 ,WO 3 and Nb 2 O 5 as well as their nanoscale particles have found wide utility in waste water treatment owing to their efficient photocatalytic activity in the degradation of a large number of environmental pollutants under UV light irradiation involving photochemical reaction which is known to occur at the surface of metal oxide semiconductor …”

“…The samples were prepared by the polymer precursors method (Pechini method). Aqueous solutions of niobium citrate and metal dopant were prepared following the procedure reported previously in Ref: the metal nitrate at 1% and 2.5% concentrations (manganese nitrate‐Merck, iron nitrate‐Merck and nickel nitrate‐Merk) was completely solubilized in distilled water. Then, niobium chloride (Merck 98%) solubilized in distilled water was incorporated.…”

“…Several studies have shown that the Nb 2 O 5 exhibits photocatalytic properties such as selective oxidation of organic pollutants, photodegradation of organic dyes, and hydrogen production . In previous studies the results of the evaluation of photocatalytic properties of Nb 2 O 5 were presented, which was synthesized using the method of polymer precursors in Ref and the sol‐gel method in Ref . In the present study, the performance of oxide obtained through the method of polymer precursors in photoinduced processes of Rhodamine B and Atrazine degradation, it was found that the samples showed similar photoactivity, even at low annealing temperatures.…”
