With the onset of Education 4.0 and the VUCAD2 world, the use of technology in instruction has been fully maximized. This study aimed to determine the teachers’ utilization of computer-based technology in science instruction. The study used descriptive survey research using the Computer-Based Technology Inventory Survey Questionnaire (CBTI-SQ). A total of 41 science teachers in two state-owned secondary schools in Zambales, Philippines served as respondents in the study. Based on the findings, the computer-based technology (CBT) in science instruction is a trend in the 21st-century learning. Teachers utilized CBT in instruction to improve their teaching that significantly uplifts students’ learning interests and concept understanding. However, teachers encounter difficulties due to low ICT literacy, unstable internet connection, power interruption, and sometimes they find it too expensive to use the CBT. The study recommends ICT training-workshop and encourages teachers to utilize appropriate CBT instruction based on the context of the students. The findings have important implications to policy development and curriculum enhancement.

Since the reform and opening up, the exchanges between China and the world have become more and more frequent. English, as a widely used international language, plays an important role in international exchanges. English teaching includes five aspects, listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. Writing teaching is very important but difficult. In order to improve students' autonomous writing ability, this paper briefly introduced the real-time multi-writing teaching mode and designed an automatic scoring algorithm of writing self-evaluation auxiliary system, random sampling based Bayesian classification and combinational algorithm. One thousand CET-4 and CET-6 compositions from Chinese Learner English Corpus (CLEC) were evaluated, and the scoring effect of Bayesian classification algorithm was also tested. The results showed that the accuracy rate, recall rate and F value of the proposed algorithm was better than that of Bayesian classification algorithm under 150 feature extraction dimensions, the two algorithms had improved scoring effect under the optimal feature extraction dimensions, and the improvement amplitude of the algorithm proposed in this study was larger. In summary, the random sampling based Bayesian classification and combinational algorithm is effective and feasible as an automatic scoring algorithm of writing self-evaluation auxiliary system. The Effect of CALL-Based Instruction on Students' Score Attainment on the TOEFL iBT in a Yemeni Context

This article is an action research of quasi-experimental nature. It aims at investigating the effect of CALL-based instruction on Yemeni students' score attainment on the TOEFL iBT. The sample of study consisted of 30 adult students randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Data was collected within an 8-week period via a pretest-posttest design for equivalent groups. The experimental group participants were also interviewed to elicit data about their attitudes towards CALL. The findings of the study indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group (trained with CALL) and the control group (trained conventionally) in the total gain scores, as well as in the section gain scores of reading, listening, speaking and writing. The findings also showed that the participants in the experimental group held positive attitudes towards CALL. Therefore, it is highly recommended that CALL should be fully integrated into TOEFL iBT preparation programmes.
