Purpose For children with neurodevelopmental disabilities (CWNDs), early diagnosis that leads to early intervention with regular targeted therapies is critical. In Qatar, private therapy centres that address this demand often have highly exclusive prices restricting families from availing them. This paper examines the challenges faced by families with CWNDs, as well as various financial and systemic obstacles, from the vantage point of these centres, all of which culminate in an extraordinarily high disability price tag for disability families in Qatar. Methods This study is based on qualitative, semi-structured, and in-depth interviews with private therapy centres and developmental paediatricians. Results Therapy centre representatives expressed common struggles in lengthy and cumbersome administration and licencing procedures, difficulty in hiring and retaining high quality staff, and expenses that need to be paid to the state. From their experience, families largely struggle with delayed diagnoses that significantly slow down intervention plans and therapies as well as staggeringly high financial costs with a dearth of funding options. Conclusions We recommend sincere engagement, dialogue, and cooperation between multiple stakeholders; a supportive ecosystem to balance and distribute the demand that includes schools and parents; as well more efficient administrative procedures and recruitment strategies.

The research aimed to prepare a training program based on the activities of some multiple intelligences and sensory integration to develop social interaction and reduce the severity of behavioral emotional disorders in children with an autism spectrum disorder. The sample consisted of (20) children with autism spectrum disorder, and it was divided into two groups, one them being a control group and an experimental group, each consisting of (10) children. The research used the Intelligence Scale (Goddard Figures Board), the Autism Disorder Symptoms Assessment List, translated by Adel Abdullah (2006), the two lists of social interaction and behavioral emotional disorders, and the training program based on the activities of multiple intelligences and sensory integration, (prepared by the researcher). The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the post-measurement scores for the experimental and control group on the two lists of social interaction and emotional behavioral disorders in favor of the experimental group. And there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two measurements, the pre, and postmeasurements of the experimental group, on the two lists of social interaction and behavioral emotional disorders in favor of the post-application. There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the post and follow-up measures one month after the completion of the program on the social interaction and behavioral emotional disorders lists.

Sensory Integration Therapy (SIT) is a widely known and used intervention by a lot of professionals and practitioners in the field of special education as being an enabler of functionality of the child. Through intervention, the sensory processing components that have been affected are targeted. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is highly affected by sensory modulation disorder (SMD), a special subcategory of sensory processing disorder (SPD) that is expressed in various ways causing activation of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) leading to biological and physiological stress. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a complex set of skills that drive us to higher mental states. According to theorists the basis of these skills is the ability to manage and regulate stimulus. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the connections between SIT and EI in children with ASD. In the introduction basic definitions and concepts of ASD and SIT are analyzed and in the main part correlations between EI and SMD are made, discussing the effectiveness of SIT in ASD children.
