This article aims to picture the environmental literacy of the pre-service science teachers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI). The highlighted environmental literacy consists of aspects of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of students related to environmental issues which are also part of the two themes of Educational for Sustainable Development (ESD), namely the theme of water and the theme of energy. Data were obtained through validated test items and questionnaire instruments. The results of this study obtained that students' environmental literacy was in the sufficient category, with an overall average percentage of environmental literacy for prospective science teacher students of 59.19. In addition, it was also obtained that the average percentage of environmental literacy of female students for the three aspects was higher than that of male students, although statistically it was concluded that there was no difference in environmental literacy of male students compared to female students. These results indicate that it is necessary to innovate lectures so that students' environmental literacy increases. One of the potential courses is Environmental Education which can be implemented on a project basis in accordance with the issues or themes in ESD.

La contaminación ambiental plantea desafíos significativos que requieren abordarse mediante la educación ambiental y por ende en las estrategias educativas. La educación ambiental empodera a las personas para adoptar comportamientos sostenibles. Las estrategias educativas, como programas ambientales y enfoques innovadores, promueven la educación ambiental y forman ciudadanos comprometidos con el medio ambiente, integrar esta educación en el currículo y la sociedad genera conciencia colectiva y promueve la protección del entorno natural. El presente artículo es una revisión exhaustiva y estructurada de los estudios más actuales relacionados con diversas técnicas y metodologías educativas enfocadas en aumentar la conciencia ambiental en entornos escolares; se busca analizar las diferentes estrategias educativas para mejorar la conciencia ambiental en las escuelas. El diseño de la investigación es cualitativo, de tipo teórico sistemático. La técnica empleada es el análisis documental. Se revisó diversas bases de datos científicas tales como MyLOFT, google publicación en revistas científicas desde el año 2019 indexadas en Scopus, Scielo, Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest, y Google Scholar, también se usa la metodología PRISMA. Los resultados obtenidos del análisis de diversas investigaciones brindan datos favorables y significativos que respaldan de manera contundente la existencia de una relación positiva entre la alfabetización ambiental y la conciencia ambiental en los estudiantes y miembros de una comunidad educativa. Estos resultados se atribuyen a la implementación de estrategias, modelos y propuestas que han contribuido a mejorar la conciencia ambiental en el entorno escolar.

Bu araştırmada, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çevre okuryazarlığı becerisinine ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından temel nitel araştırma deseni kullanılmış, araştırma verileri uzman görüşü alınarak hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formuyla toplanmıştır. Araştırma katılımcıları, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiş olup, 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılında Urfa ilinde görev yapan 9 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma verileri içerik analiziyle çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre çevre okuryazarlığı becerisinin kazandırılmasında derslerde genellikle öğretmen merkezli öğretimin kullanıldığı bunun yanı sıra öğrenci merkezli ders faaliyetlerinin de bazı öğretmenler tarafından uygulandığı görülmüştür. Öğretmenlerin çevre okuryazarlık becerisinin kapsamına yönelik farkındalıklarının yüksek olduğu ancak ders saatinin yetersizliği, öğretim programının kalabalık olması ve okul dışı etkinliklerin yapılamaması sebebiyle beceri kazandırmada sıkıntılar yaşadıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bazı öğretmenlerin çevre okuryazarlığı becerisine ilişkin öz yeterliliklerinin istenilen seviyede olmadığı ve bu öğretmenlerin hizmet içi eğitim talebinde bulundukları tespit edilmiştir.
