Artan nüfus ve sanayileşme, hava kirliliğini de beraberinde getirmiş, hava kirliliği bazı şehirlerde insan sağlığını tehdit edecek düzeyde artmış ve günümüzün en önemli gündem konularından birisi haline gelmiştir. Kent içerisinde egzoz gazları, araba tekerleri, araçlar ve araç aşınmalarından kaynaklanan pek çok kirletici madde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bunlar arasında özellikle ağır metaller büyük öneme sahiptir. Zira ağır metaller doğada bozulmadan uzun süre kalabilmekte ve çevredeki konsantrasyonu da sürekli artmaktadır. Ayrıca biyobirikme eğilimindedir. Bundan dolayı ağır metal konsantrasyonunun belirlenmesi, riskli bölgelerin ve risk düzeyinin tespit edilmesi açısından büyük öneme sahiptir. Ağır metal kirliliğinin atmosferdeki konsantrasyonunun değişimini gösteren en önemli belirteçler biyomonitörlerdir. Bu çalışmada da trafik kaynaklı ağır metal konsantrasyonunun izlenmesinde kullanılabilen Eonymus japonica (Ej), Juniperus sabina (Js) ve Buxus sempervirens (Bs) türlerinde B ve Ag elementlerin konsantrasyonlarının organ bazında yıkama durumu ve trafik yoğunluğuna bağlı değişimi belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında çalışmaya konu bitki türlerinin, trafiğin yoğun olduğu, az yoğun olduğu ve trafiğin bulunmadığı alanlarda yetişen bireylerinden yaprak ve dal örnekleri toplanmış, örneklerin bir kısmında yıkama işlemi gerçekleştirilmiş ve hazırlanan örneklerde ağır metal analizleri yapılarak B ve Ag elementlerinin konsantrasyonları belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda farklı türlerin ağır metalleri farklı düzeyde biriktirdiği, elementlerin konsantrasyonlarındaki değişimin de tür bazında organ ve trafik yoğunluğuna bağlı olarak değişiklik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) is the highest plateau in the world, and its ultraviolet (UV) radiation is much greater than that of other regions in the world. Yellow mushroom (Floccularia luteovirens) is a unique and widely distributed edible fungus on the QTP. However, the molecular mechanism of F. luteovirens’s response to strong UV radiation remains unclear. Herein, we reported the 205 environmental adaptation and information processing genes from genome of F. luteovirens. In addition, we assembled the RNA sequence of UV-affected F. luteovirens at different growth stages. The results showed that in response to strong UV radiation, a total of 11,871 significantly different genes were identified, of which 4,444 genes in the vegetative mycelium (VM) stage were significantly different from the young fruiting bodies (YFB) stage, and only 2,431 genes in the YFB stage were significantly different from fruiting bodies (FB) stage. A total of 225 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were found to be involved in environmental signal transduction, biochemical reaction preparation and stress response pathway, pigment metabolism pathway, and growth cycle regulation, so as to sense UV radiation, promote repair damage, regulate intracellular homeostasis, and reduce oxidative damage of UV radiation. On the basis of these results, a molecular regulation model was proposed for the response of F. luteovirens to strong UV radiation. These results revealed the molecular mechanism of adaptation of F. luteovirens adapting to strong UV radiation, and provided novel insights into mechanisms of fungi adapting to extreme environmental conditions on the QTP; the production the riboflavin pigment of the endemic fungi (Yellow mushroom) in the QTP was one of the response to extreme environment of the strong UV radiation.

Kolkata has a reputation for being one of the world’s most polluted cities, particularly in the post-monsoon months of October, November, and December. Diwali, a Hindu festival, coincides with these months where a large number of firecrackers are set off followed by high emissions of air pollutants. As a result, the air quality index (AQI) deteriorates to “very poor” (301 ≤ AQI ≤ 400) and “poor” (201 ≤ AQI ≤ 300) categories. This situation stays for several days to a month. The present study aims to identify the thresholds for PM 2.5 and PM 10 that cause the AQI of Kolkata to deteriorate to “very poor” and “poor.” For this purpose, we have used a rough set theory-based condition-decision support system to predict the aforementioned categories of AQI. We have developed a Z-number-based novel quantification measure of semantic information of AQI to assess the reliability of the outcomes, as generated from the condition-decision-based decision rules, during post-monsoon season. The result reveals the best possible forecast of AQI with linguistic summarization of the reliability or confidence for different threshold ranges of PM 10 and PM 2.5 . Inverse-decision rules based on rough set theory are utilized to justify and validate the forecasts. The explainability of the condition-decision support system is demonstrated/visualized using a flow graph that maps rough-rule-based different decision paths between input and output with strength, certainty, and coverage. The investigation resulted in an advanced intelligent environmental decision support system (IEDSS) for air-quality prediction.
