“…Even though studies indicate the effect of Reiki on sleep quality with different populations, such as patients with cancer, HIV, chronic pain, among others, in the literature available,we have not found studies of health professionals with the purpose of evaluating this effect. Several studies have already found promising results with Reiki therapy applied by nursing professionals on sleep quality in different populations (44)(45)(46) . However, the benefits for themselves as recipients of this practice have not been identified in the literature, thereby showing the importance of the present study and the need to better explore this aspect.…”

“…Integrating nonpharmaceutical methods (e.g., energy-based therapies, movement therapies, aroma therapies, music therapies, imagery, and yoga) is needed for managing pain and suffering rather than treating solely with opioids. Therapeutic touch, an energy therapy developed by Krieger and Kunz in the 1970s and tested with evidence-informed research (Alp & Yucel, 2021; Bagci & Yucel, 2020; Ünal Aslan & Çetinkaya, 2022; Yu et al, 2020), is grounded in Rogerian science and used in a myriad of populations experiencing pain and suffering. Healing Touch is another energy therapy with research supporting its benefits and is deployed in various settings to promote healing and treat pain, anxiety, and other human conditions (Anderson et al, 2015; Davis et al, 2020; Jain et al, 2012; Jain, 2021).…”
