The efficiency of the uterocervical angle in the prediction of second-trimester pregnancy terminations in multiparous women

Abstract: The UCA is broader in multiparous women who successfully terminated and is linked to a shorter duration of induction. The UCA by itself is the only significant contributor to the outcome of second trimester pregnancy terminations.

“…After the patients were aborted, the termination times were compared. It was found that the UCA had a significant effect in patients who aborted in the first 24 hours compared to those who DOI: 10.37990/medr.1379517 aborted in the first 48 hours (19).…”

“…The cervical length is the most commonly used ultrasonographically used parameter that gives information about the cervix. However, in recent years, the angle measurement between the lower uterine segment and the cervical canal has become popular in many subjects, especially in predicting birth and preterm labor (16,19).…”

“…Until now, UCA measurements were performed in the following studies for three purposes: (a) screening in the mid‐trimester between 14 and 24 weeks gestation for PTB prediction 12,13,15–17 ; (b) screening in late pregnancy after 37 weeks gestation for differentiation between false and early true labor 14 ; and (c) in prediction for second‐trimester pregnancy termination duration 23 . Performance of UCA and CL measurements with relation to preterm delivery and the time interval until delivery in patients with contractions was another issue addressed in our study and showed significance for gestational age, CL, and UCA.…”

“…Third, patients were not categorized according to parity. Berna et al [12,20] showed that the UCA was similar for nulliparous and multiparous participants who underwent second trimester terminations.…”
