Abstract:The mechanism of oxidation of I− in a nonpolar solvent consisting of
1.0MAl2Br6
and
0.80MnormalKBr
in an aromatic hydrocarbon was studied. A chemical step following charge transfer, in which I− is regenerated, was observed. It was postulated that bromination of the solvent occurred. Oxidation of Br−by
I2
to
normalIBr
or
Br2
is possible in this system since the standard potentials for different redox couples are much closer than in aqueous solutions. Qualitative mechanistic information obtained from a… Show more
Die Oxidation von I′ in einer aromatischen Kohlenwasserstofflösung, die 1.0 M an Al2Br6 und 0.8 M an KBr ist, beginnt mit der I′‐Adsorption an der Elektrodenoberfläche.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
