“…It is assumed that any prolonged separation between deployed soldiers and their spouses/families induces mental stress on those involved, but the amount of stress imposed on both soldiers and their families will vary during deployment. The emotional cycle of deployment model seeks to describe the different emotions and coping strategies that children and families of a deployed parent go through during deployment through four phases (Tomforde, 2015):− Before deployment, the family’s first attempts to come to terms with the father’s absence are made but are hampered by the many professional obligations soldiers have.
