The Enhancement of Response Speed by Loading the Noble Metal into the Sensing Layer for FET-Type NO[sub 2] Sensors

Abstract: In order to enhance the response speed, noble metal ͑Ru͒ loading into the WO 3 -NaNO 2 sensing layer for the field effect transistor ͑FET͒-based NO 2 sensors was investigated. The sensing layer was prepared by heat-treating the mixture powder of NaNO 2 and noble metal ͑Ru͒-loaded WO 3 at 300°C. The effects of loading amounts of the noble metal on NO 2 sensing performances as well as the microstructure of the sensing layer have been examined. It was found that the optimization of the noble metal loading amount … Show more

“…To obtain this result a lower gate voltage (−0.8 to 0.8 V) was used compared to a conventional GFET gas sensor. [50][51][52][53][54][55] Chemiresistors based gas sensor.-Resistance based gas detection systems are widely used for a variety of gases as they are easy to fabricate and operate, low cost, ability to reuse, high stability, sensitivity and simplicity of use. Their detection principle corresponds to the amount of adsorbed gas on the sensing layer that leads to a change in its resistance.…”

“…In general, the surface wettability is influenced by the size, topography, and aspect ratio of the pattern. 23 For the surface with different characteristic patterns, the dynamic contact angle is influenced by the dimensions of patterns. It is suggested that the critical dimension for drops rotating is different for each coating.…”
