The clinical experience is described with 232 patients suffering from malignant melanoma. Various therapeutic procedures were applied, the largest group consisting of 82 patients treated by surgical excision followed by local irradiation. The next large group included 66 patients treated by local surgical excision alone, while the third group consisted of 22 patients treated by local surgery followed by irradiation of the lymphatic pathway between the primary tumor and the regional lymph nodes and the nodes themselves. The best 5-year survival was achieved in the last-mentioned group, 45% for stage I and II patients.
