Varieties of car-related words reflect how the knowledge involving the vehicle has been stored in cultural society. The repetitive occurrence of phrases about a car in Taylor Swift’s 40 song lyrics raises a question on how such a thing is used in song lyrics to convey meaning. This article uses Littlemore's (2015) theory to figure out the domain where metonymy is used. To explain the meaning-making process, it adopts Moore’s (2016) notion that to reach metonymy is by analyzing the semiotic property of experiential correlation and descriptions of the semiotic structure which Brandt et. al (2019). Then, a qualitative method suggested by Gravells (2018) is applied to read the interaction among language features in context. The metonymy analysis shows the songs employ the domain of car parts, car types, road areas, driving manners, and street signs as part of car metonymy. The semiotic analysis shows that the car has the mythic meaning of overcoming trouble, private space, taking action, romance, and status so that the meaning is readily grasped by the audiences. Thus, this article enriches the method of researching popular songs where language plays vital parts in the lyrics.

Immersion has always been one of the most important reasons why gamers keep on playing video games. Developers constantly try to surround gamers via graphics, sound, narration, and most importantly, interactivity but, to reach a wider audience, developers, at the cost of sacrificing creativity, are not willing to leave their comfort zone. Independent developers, however, can come up with various ideas and executions to create immersion. In this paper, my case study will be Archimedes which is an independent game created by Josh Huges. In the context of Archimedes, I will try to examine how the game creates immersion while gradually spreading through the virtual world into our real lives. I will focus on gameplay mechanics, and visual and sound structure to analyze how they are used to create immersion.

İnsanlığın varoluşundan itibaren doğa hayatının bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Yaşamını sürdürebilmek için doğanın tüm imkanlarından faydalanmıştır. Zaman ilerledikçe en önemli yaşam kaynağı olan doğaya karşı çok acımasız bir şeklide müdahalelerde bulunmaya başlamış ve iklim değişiklikleriyle birlikte doğada dengeler alt üst olmuştur. Sanayi devrimi sonrası sanayi ve teknolojinin gelişmesiyle birlikte büyük fabrikalar kurulmuş doğada tahribatlar artmıştır. Fabrikaların üretim sistemi içerisindeki olumsuz yönleri doğrultusunda küresel ısınma kavramı ön plana çıkmıştır. Küresel ısınma ve iklim değişiklikleri ile birlikte birçok alan etkilenmiştir. Bu alanları içerisinde sanat da yer almaktadır. Sanat ve sanatçılar eserlerini küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliğine dikkat için önemli bir araç olarak görmüşlerdir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada sanatçıların küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliği konusunda yaptıkları bazı eserlerin insanlar üzerindeki yansımaları araştırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırma literatür tarama yöntemi kullanılarak elde edilen veriler doküman analizi tekniği ile incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak sanatçılar doğaya karşı olan sorumluluk bilinci ile toplumlarda farkındalık oluşturmak için küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliği konusunda mesajlar vermişlerdir.
