Tax evasion and bribery significantly impede the socioeconomic development of Latin America and the Caribbean. With other forms of corruption, such as extortion, they stifle innovation, distort markets, compromise education, and undermine public trust. Robust legal frameworks, transparency, judicial independence, and robust anti-corruption measures must address these issues. International cooperation through exchanging information, treaties, and technical assistance is essential. The socio-educational and technological repercussions of corruption in various forms underscore the necessity for reform. Ultimately, the region can establish a more egalitarian society with broader access to resources and opportunities by promoting equitable, competitive, and sustainable growth through international collaboration and transparency.
