The evolutionary trajectory of social enterprises in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Abstract

The paper aims to contribute to the existing literature on social enterprises in the Central and Eastern Europe region. Based on historical institutionalism, its main objective of is to map what happened with the segment of social enterprises in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after the collapse of the communist rule. The assessment of the current position of social enterprises in the economy and their comparison is framed vis-a-vis the third sector of civil society organisations. The conceptual innovation of the paper lies in the novelty of methodology used to examine the research issue as yet unexplored.
