The Expanding Scope of Periodontics – A Review Article

Abstract: Periodontology is widely recognized as the dental speciality pertaining to the ailments of the tissues surrounding and supporting the tooth. In the past decade a significant amount of research in periodontology was directed towards applications of advanced fields of studies like genomics, proteomics, nano-technology, bio-photonics, etc. The aim of the present review article is to outline the scope of periodontology, by briefing current practices and emphasizing the more recent and advanced developments.
