“…The treatment group before the mice were given alloxan, and the results showed that the blood sugar levels in each group of mice were ≤ 100 mg/dL. This shows that all treatment groups, both the control group and the sample group, did not experience type II diabetes mellitus (Langerman et al, 2022).…”

“…2 Technical issues related to insulin injections and SMBG/ intermittently scanned CGM can be particularly challenging for elderly people with cognitive impairment, compromised dexterity or limited vision, who may need health care support at home for managing their treatment. 3,19 In people with severely impaired health status, both tight glycaemic control or conversely undertreatment of persistent hyperglycaemia, may be harmful and may interfere with the management of geriatric syndromes and comorbid conditions. 20,21 Intensified insulin regimens might increase the difficulty in managing glucose levels and, in particular, might increase the risk of hypoglycaemia in this frail population.…”

“…Because of the progressive course of type 2 diabetes, many people require intensification of their treatment at some stage of the disease and initiation of insulin therapy with regimens of incremental complexity 2 . Technical issues related to insulin injections and SMBG/intermittently scanned CGM can be particularly challenging for elderly people with cognitive impairment, compromised dexterity or limited vision, who may need health care support at home for managing their treatment 3,19 . In people with severely impaired health status, both tight glycaemic control or conversely undertreatment of persistent hyperglycaemia, may be harmful and may interfere with the management of geriatric syndromes and comorbid conditions 20,21 .…”

“…T2DM patients most likely to develop PIR had a lack of T2DM knowledge, negative self‐perception, attitude barriers, insufficient resources, social stigmatization and fear of side effects (Bahrmann et al, 2014; Gherman et al, 2011; Holmes‐Truscott et al, 2017). The systematic review by Langerman et al (2022) found that older people with T2DM reported seven themes for insulin use included physical impact of insulin, physical capacity to administer insulin, insulin self‐management behaviours, emotional factors, social factors, daily living and personal knowledge/beliefs. Three themes related to clinical practice included addressing physical capacity and ability, supporting social and emotional issues and improving interactions with healthcare professionals.…”
