“…Several national studies have been focused on specialist nursing practice areas including critical care (Lewandowski & Kositsky, 1983; Lindquist et al, 1993; Lopez, 2003), care of children (Hinds et al, 1994), emergency nursing (Bayley, MacLean, Desy, McMahon, & Broomall, 2004), and mental health nursing (Hardy et al, 2004). In addition, some studies have been focused on priorities for nursing administration (Henry et al, 1987; Lynn, Layman, & Richard, 1999) and education (Bullock & Grayson, 1995). Eight studies of national nursing research priorities have been identified; two in the US (Lindeman, 1975; Hinshaw, Heinrich, & Bloch, 1988), two in the UK (Kitson, McMahon, Rafferty, & Scott, 1997; Ross, Smith, Mackenzie, & Masterson, 2004), and one each in Taiwan (Yin et al, 1999), Spain (Moreno‐Casbas, Martin‐Arribas, Orts‐Cortes, & Comet‐Cortes, 2001), Hong Kong (French, Ho, & Lee, 2002), and Korea (Kim, Oh, Kim, Yoo, & Ko, 2002).…”
