PurposeThe importance of crowdfunding has grown considerably in recent years. Its potential as a source of financing has captured the attention of academia. In view of the challenge of creating a cleaner energy system and the considerable investments required to reach this goal, the literature has pointed to crowdlending as a viable alternative due to its social qualities. However, the literature on this regard is still scarce. This paper aims to contribute to this gap by examining some of the critical factors that determine the performance of financing renewable energy projects through crowdlending.Design/methodology/approachThe data collected from the ECrowd! platform is studied through fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) as research method.FindingsThe results emphasize the importance of the founders’ presence in social networks and the amount of information provided in the description. They also suggest that investors do not react negatively to projects of larger amounts and terms and that giving rewards does not have a significant impact on the campaigns results.Originality/valueThe literature linking crowdfunding and sustainability is still scarce, which is why this paper contributes to filling this gap by identifying some of the factors that have a significant impact on the performance of campaigns. Critical conditions used are grouped into three categories: loan characteristics, project description and social capital. Conclusions help promoters and platforms to know what actions they should take in order to enhance their campaigns performance.

This study provides empirical examination of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reporting in Oman. It also examines the impact of SDGs reporting on corporate financial performance. The study adopts content analysis of the narrative sections of the annual reports to measure levels of SDGs reporting. The study examines all financial companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange over the period of 2016–2020. Regression models are used to examine the impact of SDGs on corporate financial performance. Our analysis adds to the literature in two crucial respects. First, we provide evidence that financial institutions in Oman have performed poorly in SDGs reporting. Second, we provide evidence that SDGs reporting positively affects corporate financial performance. Our findings offer solid practical implications to regulators, different stakeholders, policymakers, board members, and managers. The study makes an important and novel contribution to corporate disclosure literature. So far as we know, it is the only paper to examine levels of SDGs reporting in financial institutions in a developing country. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first paper to show that SDGs reporting is positively associated with corporate financial performance.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of corporate entrepreneurship. To this end, the learning process of the individual in skills, competencies and agile methodologies is considered, as well as the influence of corporate culture, ways of working and organizational capabilities in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Design/methodology/approach This study was performed by means of an email survey questionnaire, conducted on 241 SMEs in Madrid and Guadalajara (Spain). The hypotheses were tested with structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings The results yielded a positive and direct link between the organization and the training of business leaders in programs of skills and competencies, as well as between this training and corporate entrepreneurship processes carried out in the organization. However, there is an indirect relationship between organizational activity and processes of the organization and intrapreneurship activities. Research limitations/implications The research provides a practical contribution to the SME perspective and raises awareness of the importance of intrapreneurial activities for business development. Hence, it becomes relevant to focus on training plans that have a direct impact on the development of business innovations that lead to corporate entrepreneurship. Originality/value This research contributes to contextualize and enrich the literature on corporate entrepreneurship by addressing the gap related to corporate culture, innovation and skills, through a model that shows the relationship between the variables.
