The findings of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry Medical Waste Tracking Act report.

Abstract: The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) report "The Public Health Implications of Medical Waste: A Report to Congress" has been finalized and submitted to Congress. The report is a comprehensive review of all available data and information on the subject. Based on the data developed in the report, ATSDR concludes that the general public is not likely to be adversely affected by medical waste generated in the traditional health setting. However, the increase of in-home health care and other… Show more

“…[13] The relatively limited responsivity could be attributed to the lack of additional gain mechanism and the unsatisfactory charge transport properties of the perovskite film. [26] In light of this, some works have been done on lead-free perovskite-based PDs, yet satisfactory results are still lacking. More importantly, the applications of the aforementioned perovskite PDs can be hindered by the toxicity of Pb.…”

“…Although much higher responsivity and gain can be achieved in PDs by introducing heterostructures in the devices, the additional processing steps and materials involved in the devices may complicate the fabrication procedure and increase the cost. More importantly, the applications of the aforementioned perovskite PDs can be hindered by the toxicity of Pb . In light of this, some works have been done on lead‐free perovskite‐based PDs, yet satisfactory results are still lacking .…”

“…However, the MWTA was implemented in only a handful of states and expired after 2 years. 17 In 1990, Congress commissioned a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to assess "(1) selected states' infectious medical waste regulatory programs and (2) the status of the [EPA's] implementation of the Medical Waste Tracking Act." 18 The report yielded 6 recommendations for the EPA to reconsider various health waste management practices; 5 of the 6 recommendations were considered "closed and not implemented," and it was stated that the "EPA does not anticipate having a regulatory role in medical waste management," 18 without any indication of which agencies should have this responsibility.…”
