The First Argentine-Israeli Trade Accord: Political and Economic Considerations

Abstract: Having established diplomatic relations and opened the first Latin American legation in Israel, Argentina signed a generous commercial agreement with the Jewish state. This granted favourable terrns for lsraeli acquisitions of Argentine commodities. Inasmuch as Palestine was one of Argentina's foremost export markets in the Middle East since the end of World War II, the agreement formalized a situation that predated the coming into being of the Jewish state.
