The First Record of Two Polyopisthocotylean Monogeneans on Gills of the Great Barracuda, Sphyraena barracuda from the Red Sea, Yemeni Coastal Waters

Abstract: A total of 85 fish specimens of the great barracuda, Sphyraena barracuda (Edwards, 1771) from the Red Sea, Yemeni coastal waters were examined for infection with the polyopisthocotylean monogeneans during the period from October 2009 till May 2010. The results showed the occurrence of two species of these parasites; Vallisiopsis contorta Subhapradha, 1951 and Pentatres sphyraenae Euzet and Razarihelisoa, 1959.
