Polymers with Tetraethylenepentamine as a Second Ligand. -Compounds (IV) and (VIII) crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4. Compound (VI) crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with Z = 4. In (IV), the La 3+ ion is coordinated by a tepa ligand, and the [Sn 2 Se 6 ] 4anion acts as a tetradentate bridging ligand with four terminal Se atoms to connect the [La(tepa)] 3+ into a coordination polymeric anion [La(tepa)(μ-1κ 2 :2κ 2 -Sn2Se6) -]n. The μ-1κ 2 Se 1 ,Se 2 :2κ 2 Se 5 ,Se 6 bridging mode in (IV) is a new coordination mode for the Sn2Se6 unit to Ln III centers. In (VI) and (VIII) the Sn2Se6 units show μ-1κSe 1 :2κSe 5 coordination modes.
