The Forestry Research Partnership: Developing the partnership

Abstract: Initiated in 1999 by Tembec Inc., the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Canada, and housed at the Canadian Ecology Centre, the Canadian Ecology Centre -Forestry Research Partnership (referred to as the CEC-FRP) quickly evolved into an effective and successful catalyst, facilitator, and funding source for integrated forest research and development in Ontario. The program functioned primarily to promote the CEC-FRP goal of increasing the supply of fibre to Tembec mills in northeastern Ontario by 10% in 10 years (Bruemmer 2008, this Within 3 years of the initiation of the partnership, it became evident that the approach to transfer needed to evolve into a focused extension program with increased participation by partners.
