The formation of dicyanoterphenyls by the interaction of terephthalonitrile dianion with biphenylcarbonitriles in liquid ammonia

Abstract: Dedicated to Professor Usein M Dzhemilev on the occasion of his 65th birthday AbstractTerephthalonitrile dianion couples with biphenylcarbonitriles providing dicyanosubstituted mand p-terphenyls. The influence of the cyano group position in biphenylcarbonitrile on the structure of the terphenyl scaffold is discussed.
