“…The homozygous CYP2D6*3 allele is known to generally have a low frequency in populations. Serin et al [21] reported a CYP2D6*3 genotype frequency of 1%, whereas the same genotype was not detected in a study conducted by Aynacioglu et al [13,21]. The percentage of individuals with the PM phenotype in Turkey is reported to be 1.49% [13].…”

“…The PM phenotype has previously been reported as 0-2%, 1-10%, and 1-2% in Asian, Caucasian, and African populations, respectively; the most frequently observed variant was CYP2D6*4, which induces the PM phenotype in Caucasian populations [19]. In two individual studies conducted in Turkish populations, the CYP2D6*4 homozygous variant genotype frequencies were 4% and 3% [20,21]. Similar to these studies, the CYP2D6*4 homozygous variant genotype frequency was found to be 3.6% in our study.…”

“…CYP2D6*5 has deletion of the entire gene and is present at a similar frequency of approximately 5 % in all populations (Daly et al 1996;Lovlie et al 1996). Serin et al (2012) showed that allele frequencies of CYP2D6*3, CYP2D6*6 and CYP2D6*5 were 1, 2.5 and 3 %, respectively, in the Turkish population. In our study, CYP2D6*6 (after CYP2D6*1-normal form-allele frequency: 0.55) was the most frequent allele, with an allele frequency of 0.225.…”

“…Another study showed that CYP2D6*4 homozygous mutation rate was 4 % and allele frequency was 0.21 in a Turkish population (Koseler et al 2007). A recent study found that the allele frequency of CYP2D6*4 (1934 G [ A) was 10 % (Serin et al 2012).…”

“…CYP2D6* 1934A allele was presented 1.38% in Koreans (28), 20.7% in Caucasians (43), 5-10% in white population (21). Also, the frequency of allele *4 was reported 0% in African, Chinese, Japan, and Mexican populations, 0.6% in Japan, 17.5-20.7% in German populations (43)(44)(45)(46)(47) and 10% and 11% in Turkish population, respectively (31,48,49).…”
