“…Cobb et al [44] analyzed the autopsy findings of 191 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and found an incidence of acute myocardial infarction of 4%, as compared with an expected rate of 31%. Similar results indicating a lower morbidity from coronary disease or mortality from myocardial infarction in rheumatoid arthritis were found in 500 living patients [48], compared with a control group and in 62 autopsy studies of patients with a rheumatoid arthritis who had been treated with aspirin [53].
