Abstract:Autoantibodies against leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1 protein (LGI1 mAb) lead to limbic encephalitis characterized by seizures and memory deficits. While animal models provide insights into mechanisms of LGI1 mAb action, species-specific confirmation is lacking. In this study, we investigated the effects of patient-derived LGI1 mAb on human CA3 neurons using culturedex vivoslices. Analysis of intrinsic properties and morphology indicated functional integrity of these neurons under incubation conditions. Hum… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
